We’re Digging In – Our Community Allotment has Broken Ground
Weybridge Rotary Club is sowing the seeds for a greener, more connected future with the launch of its new Community Allotment at Churchfield Allotments. This shared plot, managed by our members, is designed to be a hub of wellbeing and learning for the entire local community.
Turning the First Sod
Our first morning at the allotment began with a mixture of excitement and hard work. At first sight, it was clear that nature had taken a firm hold. However, the potential is undeniable. Our team wasted no time getting stuck in, spending an energetic first morning turning the soil on a large bed to prepare it for its very first season of growth.

Hands-on Learning for Kids
We want to give local children the chance to get their hands dirty and see exactly how a vegetable patch works. To keep things safe and focused, we are planning:
- Small, organised sessions: Guided activities designed to show young children where their food actually comes from.
- Safety first: All sessions require parents to be present and are backed by strong safeguarding measures.
Cultivating Health & Connection
The project is about growing food and nurturing our community. The communal plot offers a unique space for:
- Physical & Mental Wellbeing: Giving Rotary members the restorative benefits of staying active outdoors.
- Community Strength: Creating a space where neighbors can connect and work toward a common goal.
- Enriching Weybridge: Supporting our wider commitment to strengthening the local community through shared effort.
Through growing food together, we’re hopefully contributing to a healthier, more vibrant Weybridge.
